Whew!!!....What a SHOW!  Well, the inaugural Arizona NNL is now a part of Arizona modeling history.  The first NNL-style show in our state is in the books, and, as many patrons told us afterwards, it was an unqualified sucess.  Once again, our sincere thanks to our sponsors, our host (The Postal Worker's Social Hall), Mike Cholewa - our vendor coordinator, our contestants and the spectators.  Below are a few photos of the activities thoughout the day.  From the vendors, to the real hot rods in the parking lot, to the kid's make-and-take, to the awards ceremony at the close of the day...a great time was had by all.  The 2nd Annual Arizona NNL will be held at the same great location on Saturday, November 1st, 2008, so mark your calenders and start building!
OK, keep these photos of this old front engine dragster,  in your mind for later on.  There WILL be a test.  Confused?...Not when you see photos of the award winners later on!
MCM member, Fraqnk Bennett came not only with his award winning models , but also his award winning 85 IROC. Boy , is this thing RED!
MCM member, Dave Bell showed up once again with his immaculate 40 Ford custom.  What a show piece this thing is. MCM member, Fred Pickering brought out his just finished 48 Plymouth pro streeter. Fred shows how attention to detail really pays off.
This is what many of the entrants in the Az NNL were shooting for. The Awards.
As we have done with our past events. We always go all out with our awards. We are planing on more for this year's AzNNL.
'MC' Drew Martin had the crowd ramped up all day.  He handled the PSA's, and the raffle duties with aplomb.  It's almost like he's been in front of a microphone before......hmmm MCM friend, Sonni Giuliano and Mark from Mark's Model Mart talk about secret vendor strategy in a language that only vendors understand.
The vendor tables were well-stocked at the beginning of the event.  Not so at the end!
Of course...after resting those feet, they were back at it trying to find those kit deals.  Mike Cholewa once again did a masterful job of coordinating the vendors for the event. Oh yeah...there were models on the tables to look at too!
We had some youngsters trying their hand at making their own models at our make-and-take event.  Others were just happy to rest their feet after making laps around the vendor area.
A rare shot of the MCM Godfather, and our resident MCM Gun Moll in public.  Matt Conte and Debbie Costa were the award presenters at the end of the event.
Our resident 'Paint Pimp' guru, Frank Bennett collected the Best Paint award.  C'mon Frank..crack a smile!
OK, wait!...This is supposed to be the award winner for Best Junior.  Oh well, Granddad had to collect for Nathan because he was probably home building another model!
Ahhhh...That's better, Frank!!  Winning the theme award, Saturday Night Racing at your Local Track - Roundy Rounds for his fabulous CAM-2 Camaro finally brought a smile (kinda) to his face!
Drew's fabulous work on his Fiat Mudbogger earned him the award for Best Engine.  Thumbs up all around for this model, Drew.
So you didn't win anything at the raffle, but Hey!, Dave Bell... you did win some hardware for the Best Interior.
The Arizona NNL Best of Show winner is Tom Walsh Sr. with his all scratch-built large scale model of the front engine dragster that is pictured above.
How many model car events do you get to go to that the big winning model is a replica of an old race car and the real one is sitting outside for everyone to compare it to. Well it happened at the
FIRST ARIZONA NNL
Another MCM and Arizona NNL friend, Tim Pentecost won the hard-fought theme award, Saturday Night Racing at your Local Track - Drags for his nostalgic Purple Haze match-basher funny car.
